Galapagos Islands Cruises

A Galapagos Islands cruise is one of the most complete ways to explore the archipelago. Instead of staying in one town and taking day trips, you travel through the islands aboard a carefully planned expedition vessel, reaching visitor sites that are often only accessible by cruise.

Why Choose a Galapagos Cruise?

A cruise allows you to experience more of the archipelago in less time. Since the vessel moves between islands, you can visit multiple ecosystems without constantly packing, checking in, checking out or coordinating speedboats between towns.

Most Galapagos cruises include daily guided excursions with certified naturalist guides. These excursions may involve nature walks, beach landings, snorkeling, kayaking, panga rides or wildlife observation. In the evenings, guides usually explain the next day’s route, wildlife highlights and activity level.

How to Choose the Best Galapagos Cruise

Not all Galapagos cruises are the same. The route, vessel and number of days can change your experience completely.

1

Choose the
Right Duration

Short cruises of 4 or 5 days can be a good introduction to the islands, especially if you have limited time. They usually focus on a specific region of the archipelago.

Cruises of 6 to 8 days offer a more complete experience and are ideal for most first-time visitors. These itineraries usually include a better balance of wildlife, landscapes and visitor sites.

2

Review the Route,
Not Only the Boat

Many travelers choose a cruise based only on the vessel, but the itinerary is just as important. Some routes are stronger for birdwatching. Others are better for snorkeling, volcanic scenery, giant tortoises, marine iguanas, penguins or remote islands.

A beautiful vessel with the wrong route may not match your expectations. Our team helps you understand what each itinerary actually offers.

3

Consider the
Vessel Size

Smaller yachts often feel more intimate and personal. Larger ships may offer more facilities, more cabin options and extra stability. Catamarans are popular for comfort and smoother navigation, while expedition vessels may offer additional onboard services.

The best choice depends on your travel style. Some travelers want boutique comfort. Others want luxury service. Others prefer a practical vessel with an excellent route.

4

Match the Cruise to
Your Activity Level

Galapagos cruises include guided landings and water activities. Some routes are more active, with longer walks, wet landings, snorkeling in cooler water or more challenging terrain. Other routes are more relaxed and suitable for families or travelers who prefer easier walks.

Before booking, it is important to know the daily rhythm of the cruise.

What Is Usually Included in a
Galapagos Cruise?

We always recommend reviewing inclusions before confirming.

Some items are usually not included

Wildlife You May See on a Galapagos Cruise

The Galapagos is not a zoo and wildlife sightings can never be guaranteed, but choosing the right route for the right season can improve your chances of seeing the species you care about most.

Galapagos Cruise vs Island Hopping

Galapagos Cruise

A cruise is best if you want a complete expedition experience, access to more remote visitor sites and a comfortable itinerary where logistics are handled for you.

Island Hopping

Island hopping is best if you prefer sleeping in hotels, exploring local towns, having a more flexible rhythm and taking daily tours from inhabited islands.

When Should You Book a Galapagos Cruise?

Galapagos cruises have limited capacity, and the most popular vessels and routes can sell out months in advance.

If you already know your travel dates, it is better to compare options early. If you are flexible, we can also help you look for available departures, promotions or last-minute spaces.

Awesome day trip into the rainforest with Chris Guevara Chris Guevara is a wonderful guide. Full of energy, and knowledge of the rainforest. Our guided tour through the rainforest in Pasaza, a swim in the waterfall, meeting the indigenous family Kotokachi, making hot chocolate with the caca 🫘, canoing and taking in some amazing views. An absolute highlight of our time in Ecuador 🇪🇨.

Great cruise around Galapagos but penny pinching on drinks and abnormal expectations on tipping were very disappointing My wife and I went on a 5 day cruise around the Galápagos Islands which included snorkeling land excursions and zodiac trips. Cruise and staff were excellent but the pace non stop which was challenging at times but did not detract from the trip. However, unlike other cruises, all guests were limited to one glass of wine or beer per day (all soft drinks and juices were complimentary). However, the wine was Limited to a glass of red only. White wine had to be paid for. The boat had 15 passengers so surely when the cost per passenger is around $A1,000 per day, it’s not too much to expect complimentary wine at lunch and dinner. Unnecessary penny pinching and the operators could learn a thing or 2 from Ponant cruises where all alcohol is included at all times of the day. Secondly, in the final debrief before leaving the cruise, a rate card was provided suggesting what I thought were excessive amounts of gratuities. Surely these are not necessary if the crew are paid properly on such expensive cruises. In addition there was no anonymity as cabin details were provided on the envelopes given to passengers for these tips. This what I would call brazen requests detracted from what was a wonderful experience around the Galapagos Islands. There are many operators in the area and it’s these little things that make a difference.

Great opportunity to see the highlights of keto with a wonderful guide We had a great day seeing keto today and learning so much about the history of this area and the country. We would like to set up a tour for next Saturday, December 7 to go to the Mindo rainforest and would like to have Danny as our guide if that is possible. Please communicate with me by email or text so that we could set something up. We will be staying at the same hotel Windham, at the airport

Intro to Quito Our lovely guide, Raul, introduced us to Quito. His English is excellent. He showed a thorough knowledge of history and sites in the city, and answered all our random questions. He adjusted his program to suit our requirements and gave great suggestions for things we could do ourselves the next day. Thanks, amigo!
