Galapagos trip cost in 2026

Planning a trip to the Galapagos Islands is a dream for many travelers, but one of the first questions is always the same: How much does it cost?

The Galapagos trip costs depend on several factors, such as how many days you going to stay, whether you choose a Galapagos cruise or an island hopping itinerary, the type of accommodation, etc.

Actually, the costs do vary significantly as there are other factors as well which you should consider. In this article, we explain the main costs you should expect when you plan your Galapagos vacation in 2026 and how to choose the best option considering the budget.

Average Galapagos trip cost in 2026

For most travelers, a Galapagos journey can cost from $3000 to $9000+ per person, excluding your international flights.

A short island-hopping itinerary with comfortable hotels may cost approximately $3000 per person, while a high-quality Galapagos cruise can easily cost $4000–$7000 or more per person in double cabin. Luxury class cruises and premium suite accommodations can cost significantly more.

The total budget normally includes:

  • Airfare to/from Galapagos Islands
  • Galapagos National Park entrance fee
  • Transit Control Card (TCC/TCT)
  • Accommodation
  • Meals
  • Excursions and guided activities
  • Transportation between islands
  • Snorkeling and other activities
  • Travel insurance
  • Tips and personal expenses

Here are some more details:

Galapagos National Park entrance fee

One of the mandatory costs for visiting the Galapagos Islands is the Galapagos National Park entrance fee. As of 2026, the entrance fee for foreigners is $200 per person. Previously, the fee was USD 100, and it increased to USD 200 from August 01, 2024. For foreign children under 12, the fee increased from USD 50 to USD 100. This fee is additional to your flights, hotel, cruise, or tour.

There is also a Transit Control Card (TCT) required for travelers entering the Galapagos. This is another cost that should be included in your travel budget. It’s $20 per person.

Please take into account that these fees are mandatory, and usually are not included in the package price.

Airfare to/from the Galapagos

The only way to get to the islands is flying from mainland Ecuador, from capital Quito or the biggest city Guayaquil. The airfare price may vary, but usually it costs around $550 per person.

There are two main airports on the archipelago that receive flights from the Mainland Ecuador:

  • Baltra Airport (GPS) near Santa Cruz Island
  • San Cristóbal Airport (SCY) on San Cristóbal Island

Your choice of airport will depend on your itinerary. We should mention that when you purchase a cruise you need to buy the tickets in addition to the cruise, thus you reserve your transfers to and from the ship.

So when you compare Galapagos packages, check whether the domestic flights are included or need to be purchased separately.

So what to choose?

For many travelers, a cruise is the best way to explore the Galapagos because the boat allows you to visit remote islands and wildlife sites that are difficult to reach on a land-based itinerary.

While an Island hopping itinerary can be a good alternative for travelers who prefer to sleep in hotels rather than onboard a yacht.
